As Christmas approaches, we give thanks for 60 years of Time for God volunteers bringing hope, compassion, and service to communities across the UK and beyond. This season, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of TfG.

Celebrating 60 Years of Service, Community and Global Impact
On Saturday, 15 November, our charity proudly celebrated 60 years of facilitating life-changing volunteering opportunities for young adults from the UK and around the world. The milestone event brought together current and formervolunteers, past colleagues, staff, trustees, and partners from across theglobe - each one part of our amazing legacy.
Honouring Our Roots and Our Founder
This year’s celebration centred on honouring the legacy of our founder, Rev. Bryan Gilbert, whose vision laid the foundation for six decades of service, connection, and transformation. Guests reflected on how his passion forcommunity has continued to inspire generations of volunteers.
Stories fom the Past and Voices for the Future
Former volunteers shared powerful testimonies and fond memories, taking everyone on a heartfelt journey down memory lane. Their stories highlighted the friendships, personal growth and lasting impact of serving communities both near and far.
Current volunteers also spoke about their experiences, offering hopeful insights intohow they plan to shape the future of the programme.
Inspiring Words from Our Guest Speakers
We welcomed Rev.John Bell, who spoke about the deep importance of volunteering, the strength found in community, and how service enriches both giver and receiver.
Former volunteer Captain Emily Henderson MBE reflected on how learningto serve early in life shaped her worldview, leadership, and lifelong commitment to giving back.
A Celebration of Community
Guests enjoyed a beautiful meal prepared by Liberty Kitchen, a remarkable social enterprise born out of Pentonville Prison - reminding us of the transformational power of believing in others.
A Symbolic “Memory Tree”
Participants were invited to reflect on the past by writing thoughts on brown tags, and to share hopes for the future on green tags, creating a powerfulvisual symbol of gratitude and growth.
Looking Ahead: Two New Fundraising Campaigns
TfG launched two major initiatives to expand opportunities for both young adults and churches:
- Bridge the Gap - supporting churches with limited resources
- Discovery Journey - helping young adults explore purposeful volunteering
