We believe that giving opportunities to volunteers to serve at the right placement can have a lasting and life-changing impact for everyone involved. We are committed to changing the world, one interaction at a time.

We provide quality volunteering opportunities. We do this by working in partnership with Churches and Christian organisations of all traditions across the world and with other European and International Voluntary Service Organisations.

 

Our volunteers are truly international and represent over 35 countries. TfG Placements are all unique, and cover a broad spectrum (these include Churches, Hostels, Youth Activity centre). Each placement is in the UK and has a Christian ethos.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and develop voluntary work and volunteering opportunities for the benefit of communities, and to advance the education, Christian faith and development of volunteers and others by providing training, advice, information and assistance.

Our Culture

We accept everyone for who they are and help them to grow and develop in their identity in Christ.
We embrace difference and celebrate the diverse cultures that people come from.

Our staff team

Mary Makoni

Operations Director
Mary joined the team as Operations Manager in 2019. Prior to joining TfG worked within chairity sector in various capacities in London. She lives in Harrogate,  North Yorkshire and enjoys long walks and good coffee.

Natalie Nicklin

Team Administrator
Natalie joined the team in 2025, bringing diverse experience in charity operations and office management. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors and is actively involved in her church community.

Neil Ashton

Finance Officer
Neil joined the team in 2019 and has worked in a finance role. Neil is married and lives with his husband in Devon. He is passionate about veganism and all things Christmas.

Stephen Adamson

Field Officer
Stephen joined the team in 2021 and has over 30 years’ experience working with youth in a church context. He is passionate about family history, is married with three children, and lives in Stafford.

Olly Hargreaves

Field Officer
Olly joined the team in 2023. He is a trained engineer but switched to his passion working disadvantaged people before joining TfG on a part time role.  He is married, has two children and lives in Liverpool.

Jo Lazenby

Field Officer
Jo joined the team in 2025. An experienced Youth Worker with over 17 years in the sector. Jo is creative and loves designing engaging programmes and activities that inspire confidence, connection, and growth.

Our trustees

Meet our amazing team of trustees

Caroline Hutchings

Trustee
Caroline joined TfG in 2025 and has spent 40 years supporting young people in both secular and church roles. With a background in HR and training, she now works for Churches Together in Peterborough, Rutland and East Northants and loves helping young people reach their potential.

Bob Hext

Trustee
A former teacher and founder of Crossbow Education, Bob has written two devotional books and blogs regularly. He loves birdwatching, photography, cooking, and cheering on Liverpool FC, and is passionate about seeing young people grow in Christ.

Pete Twilley

Chair of Trustees
Pete has been involved with TfG for 15 years firstly as a placement supervisor and as a host for TfG volunteers. He joined the board in 2017 and is currently Chair of Trustees. Pete is now retired having worked in education in various capacities.

Adrian Smith

Trustee
Adrian has been a TfG trustee since 2019. He has recently retired from being a church leader in Leeds which involved facilitating faith amongst students with no church background. Prior to this Adrian spent over 20 years involved in theological education.

Nick Gould

Trustee
Nick has been involved with TfG for over 20 years. He joined the board of trustees after being a volunteer himself post university.Nick lives in Bristol and works for the children's charity, Barnardo's as a service administrator.

Jack Regan

Trustee
Jack joined the TfG board in 2024. He is Director of Youth Services for the Catholic Diocese of Lancaster, with 25+ years in youth work. He enjoys photography, DIY, and family life with his two young children.

Rhoda Asomah

Honorary Volunteer Trustee
Rhoda is a TfG volunteer alumna from the 2023 programme, bringing valuable volunteer insight to the team. Now back in her home country, she’s studying International Social Work and enjoys travelling, exploring new cultures, and playing volleyball.
