TFG Info Our calling

Our mission

TFG aims to provide quality volunteering opportunities through which God changes lives.

Our ethos

This is the motivation for all our work - it is the reason why we do what we do. The foundation of our faith and the inspiration for our work is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We follow God's call to accompany and encourage each other in our faith journeys and we embrace the richness and diversity of all traditions. We believe that God uses the process of volunteering to change people's lives. This motivates us to provide quality volunteering opportunities.

Our vision

To be internationally recognised as a 'centre for excellence' in delivering diverse and flexible volunteering opportunities through inclusive and creative programmes and partnerships.

Our theology

We seek to help each volunteer explore the Christian faith and what it means to follow Jesus by 'serving, not being served,' starting from where they are rather than where we (or anyone else) would like them to be. So we welcome young adults - those with a passionate personal faith, those with a more casual or nominal approach, and all points in-between - from every mainstream Christian tradition on the understanding that we share a common commitment to journeying and exploring together.

Therefore we are constantly balancing our personal faith perspectives with the necessity of enabling our volunteers to make their own way on the journey, of which TFG is only part. For this reason, it is good that the current staff team has experience of a range of traditions: Anglican, Methodist, Pentecostal, Lutheran and Catholic.
